Teen Daze - Winter Sun

Here's the new track Winter Sun by Vancouver's Teen Daze, pne of my favourite local djs. I saw him perform this track when he opened up for Toro Y Moi back in late September at Venue, and found it to be perfect beach/elevator music. That may sound like an insult, if you listen to it, you'll understand that it's relaxing, non-obtrusive sound is a perfect fit for what I just described.

Treebeard - Minus Me

Here's the latest video by Vancouver's very own Treebeard, shot by Sam Soo of Hit The Streets.

I'm always impressed whenever I listen to Alex of Treebeard perform. There are hundreds of Bon Iver/City and Colour type performers and I consider him to be one of the strongest performers out there.

Enjoy the video!

Die Antwoord - Fok Julie Naaiers

I realize the redundancy of me posting this video a few days after it was released on sterogum, but hey, just because a major music blog posts a video by a rap group that has 10 million+ youtube hits, doesn't mean I can't post their new video right?

Anyways, this new video by them seems to be one of their darker videos and also one of their darker songs. I believe that "Fok Julie Naaiers" itself means "Fuck you Fuckers" (if we can trust vimeo comments, which I believe are a level above youtube comments), and the beat itself is somewhat an indicative of the title. The song is menacing and accompanying that we see Ninja giving us looming glares while Yolandi Visser gives us smirks while singing into the camera wearing various Kawaii Japanese onesies. Oh, I should probably mention how they both have various insects on their faces throughout the video.

First Aid Kit - The Lion's Roar

After posting two heavy 80s style electronic songs, I'm going to switch things up a bit.

First Aid Kit are a rapidly growing Swedish folk duo. This song by them is appropriately named "The Lion's Roar", and it really seems to fit, given the strong bold singing of the swedish sisters backed by the strumming and occasional trumpeting.

The group has heavy influences from Joanna Newsom and Fleet Foxes (they were first discovered by posting a Fleet Foxes cover on youtube), but I feel also they have a lot of parallels with the UK artist Laura Marling (with more bravado).

This is an easily likeable song, and I feel strongly that this group will encounter a lot of success on the future, especially after their 2010 show in Nashville after being approached by Jack White. Listening to their lyrics and vocals, it's easy to forget that these girls are only 21 and 18 respectively.

Com Truise - Brokendate

Com Truise is one of many pseudonyms by DJ/Producer/Designer Seth Haley

Using synths to create a dreamlike trance state. Com Truise creates a beautiful retro sounding song that reminds us of some early 80s pop music (minus vocals).

The video itself is an homage of various 80s sci-fi/action films such as Blade Runner, Terminator, Tron while also borrowing heavily from film noire movies.

While borrowing heavily from 80s sounding electronic music, he adds a modern pitch to his work that can be described as "chillwave". A tongue-in-cheek music genre used to describe a synthesizer heavy relaxed style of music that is very minimal.

Give it a listen and ride the waves

Blackout Beach - Be Forewarned, the Night has Come

New song by Blackout Beach

Blackout Beach is the project by Carey Mercer, who is most well known for his band Frog Eyes

This song features a dreamy/glitchy sound featuring strong David Bowie esque vocals. His style of music can be reminiscent of that of Wendy Carlos, the american composer most well known for her creation of the score for the Kubrick film "A Clockwork Orange"

I wouldn't call this track a song for everyone by any means, yet I still think this song has definite appeal to some people. I do feel that this song kind of goes own more than necessary, but it's a solid background song.

Introduction of Zaboo Zaboo

Welcome one and all music appreciators and amateur blog connoisseurs.

This is the start of Zaboo Zaboo music blog, a collection of sounds and songs which I happen to stumble upon and feel like sharing.

I've started this blog to express my interest in music, and I feel that this blog will allow not only me to better categorize and express myself, but to show other people new music that they haven't heard, or maybe even remind them of some old forgotten bands and songs.

Anyways, enough of the bullshit introductions, let's get down to the music
